But what do we miss about Cuba?
From Cuba we miss every experience of our childhood, that as Cuban children, we had to wait each season of the year to take directly from a tree the fruit that we observed growing in the yard of our house or the neighbor's.
But, the food, the cooking of our mothers and grandmothers is a flavor that is difficult to find and enjoy outside of Cuba because the flavors are different.
From Cuba we miss the desire to have to wait until the end of the year to be able to enjoy the hectic celebration that represents the last day of the year. As in every house, the typical roast pig is cooked with congrí, cassava and salad and the mixed smells that are inhaled in every particle of the air from the roasts in each neighboring house are fully enjoyed.
Yes, returning gives us energy to recharge, the strength to be able to leave and the feeling as if we would never leave our customs and families again.
I am a Cuban migrant, living for six years in the beautiful city of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. However, in this little piece of Mexico there is no corner where you can remember and enjoy Cuban Creole food. I intent to change that, come along for the ride!!
